White Stuff

I'm not sure about all this white stuff on the ground. Mommy says it's snow. I say it's cold. I don't like it very much because it makes my paws too cold when I go outside to do my business. Mommy and Daddy know this and gave me a pee-pad inside the house instead. They know me so well.

It was snowing pretty hard when I went to sleep last night, and there was more snow than I am tall when I woke up this morning. The roads were pretty slippery so Mommy and Daddy took a "snow day" from school to stay home and snuggle with me. The turned the gas fireplace up extra warm and we've been staying cozy all day. I wish every day could be a "snow day."

The sun is starting to come out this afternoon and the snow on the tracks in the roads is finally starting to melt. I guess that means we have to go back to school tomorrow and that I have to start doing my business outside, again. :(

Furry Friends Festival

Yesterday was sooooo much fun. Mommy, Daddy, Moxie and me drove down to Everett to the Furry Friends Festival. It was an event held to raise money for all the poor little puppy mill dogs who were rescued in Snohomish and Skagit County here in Washington. Here is a link to one story about the puppy mill: http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW_021009WAB-puppy-mill-arraign-sw.1e6b0f7.html.

The fundraiser was a lot of fun. There were people selling cool clothes for Moxie and me, and all the other doggies, too. They had treats for me all over the place. There was also a room that had several other Chi's like me waiting to be adopted. My mommy met some of them and thought they were so cute she wanted to bring home another brother or sister for me. There was a cute little girl named Bambi who is just about my age. She is white and tan and very, very shy. She was rescued from a puppy mill. The people running the puppy mill made her get pregnant when she was VERY young. All of the puppies died because she was too young to have them. When that happened the puppy mill people decided to get rid of her. She is so sweet, and her story is so sad.

Another one of the doggies was named Scooter. He has problems walking, kind of like me. His back legs don't work very well so he scoots to get around. He also has a little wheelchair that helps him to get around even better. He is about 3 years old. Scooter was just so happy that he kept licking everyone's hands and waiting to be loved.

Mommy would have loved to bring them both home, but Daddy said no. I guess it would have been fun to have another brother or sister, but I'm kinda glad Daddy said no. I don't think i want to share Mommy and Daddy with anyone else right now. :)

We stayed at the fundraiser for most of the day enjoying the booths and checking out all the other doggies. There were BIG dogs and other little dogs, but I was definitely the cutest. I wore my new "No Puppy Mills" t shirt and it was a BIG hit. I posted a picture of what the back of my shirt looks like. The shirt was a little bit too big, but Mommy sewed it for me to make it fit better.

I was sooooooo tired when we got home. I took a nap and slept for most of the night. It was a fun and very busy day.

Mid-Winter Break

My family and I spent several days in Friday Harbor last weekend visiting with mama chica, auntie Kirstin, and uncle Justin. We went to Eddie and Friends Dog Park every day to play with other small dogs. I was a little scared and so I hid by Mommy and Daddy a lot, but I did come out to say once in a while. I met a lot of other dogs and I'm hoping I can go back and play with them again soon.

On Monday we took the ferry boat over to Orcas Island. We drove around and went into Eastsound. There is a nice little pet store there and I picked out a nice gift for my Mama Angi and Papa Jason. After the pet store we went to the dog park there, but it was really cold. I walked around a little bit, then Mommy picked me up to snuggle me. Next we drove up to Mt. Constitution where we wanted to hike up to the top. When we got close to the top we found out that it was closed for construction. We were sad, but it was really cold, so things worked out alright. We might go back again when it gets warmer and all the snow is melted from up there. On our way back down the mountain we made a pit stop at a place called Camp Moran. Mommy and her sister went there when they were in middle school. They told stories about some of the funny stuff that happened while they were there. Mommy seemed excited, but I really wasn't. I slept on Mommy's lap during most of this part of the trip. We drove around a little bit more and then caught the ferry back to Friday Harbor. I met a nice lady who petted me behind my ears for a long time. It was great!

The next day when I woke up Mommy and Daddy noticed that my eye was very red. They were a little bit worried even though it didn't bother me. They made an appointment to take me to the vet on the island. My appointment wasn't for a long time, though, so we went back to the dog park to play. It was fairly warm and the sun was shining, and there weren't any other dogs at the park. I felt happy and comfortable and started running around chasing Mommy and Daddy. They were so proud of me because I haven't done a lot of running since before my brain swelling in October. I really like how excited they got and it just made me run more.

After playing at the park for a while we went and had some lunch, then it was time for my appointment at the vet. The vet was very nice and gave me some snuggles before doing the exam. She looked at my eye while Mommy held me close. She put some funny, bright green dye into my eye so she could see if there were any scratches. It felt really weird and I didn't like it, but I was still a good boy. There were no scratches, so the vet rinsed my eye out and told Mommy and Daddy that I probably just popped a blood vessel. Just to be safe she gave Mommy some ointment to put in my eye until it got better.

When we left the vet, we went back to my favorite dog park to play. There were several new friends there, but I was kind of tired so I just snuggled. Moxie played and played and played with Chica. We went back to the house and relaxed for a little while. I was really tired and just wanted to sleep, but Mommy wanted to walk to meet auntie Kirstin at her work. Thankfully Mommy decided to carry me instead of making me walk. She put me in my snuggle bag, put Moxie on her leash, and off we went. (Chica took a nap with my Daddy while we were gone). By the time we met auntie Kirstin and walked to uncle Justin's office it was starting to get dark, so uncle Justin gave us a ride back in the car. After the busy day I went to sleep when we got back to the house and slept most of the night. I was tired!!!

The next day, Wednesday, was the day we were coming home. But, we woke up early enough so we could go to the dog park before having lunch and heading to the airport. It was another beautiful day and I saw a couple of my friends from the other days we went to the park. When we had to leave Mommy and Daddy made sure to tell my new friends that we would be back soon to play again.

We had a very fun, but very busy mini-vacation, and I was very tired. I went to sleep early and slept in on Thursday morning. It was great!!!

auntie Kirstin and uncle Justin had to work so Mommy and Daddy took me to the dog park again.

Friday Harbor

I had a great day today!! I flew in an airplane from Bellingham to Friday Harbor to visit with my Auntie Kirstin, Uncle Justin, and my birth mama, Chica. The plane ride was noisy but not too scary since I was on Mommy's lap. We could see all the islands in the San Juans and clear over to Mt. Baker. It was a beautiful day for a plane ride.

When the plane landed in Friday Harbor, Chica was waiting for us outside the terminal. She was so excited to see me and I was excited to see her, too. We went back to Chica's house to get her daddy, Justin, and then we all went to the dog park. The dog park is called Eddie and Friends Dog Park and it's great. There's a small area just for little dogs like me so we don't have to worry about getting stepped on by the big doggies. I made lots of new friends, including another boy about my size named Spike. Spike was shy like me, but I think if we spent more time together we could get along great!!!

I don't know what's in store for tomorrow. I hope we can go back to the dog park. Maybe we'll take a little walk in town, too. I like walking around with my family (especially when Mommy carries me).

I think it's time for me to put Mommy and Daddy to bed, now. They've been sick and need lots of rest. Have a great night!!!
